Houston Summer Staff Team 2006

Cherie Farinola
Cherie was born in Troutville, VA and moved to Roanoke, VA when she was two. She was raised there until her junior year of high school when her family moved to Wichita, Kansas. She attends Friends University in Wichita and is a junior, majoring in Elementary Education. Through her involvement with the Barnabas Team at her university and through Campus Ministries, she was introduced to CSM – serving twice in Houston. Cherie loves to play in the sun and watching reruns of old shows (like the Dick Van Dyke Show and I Love Lucy), and can’t get enough of Anne of Green Gables or Emma. “I have found it a passion to work with the homeless, volunteering with organizations such as Bread of Life, the Salvation Army, and the Red Cross. I also love kids—of all ages. I can’t wait to see how God grows me and stretches me this summer in Houston.”
Tiffany Ferrari
Tiffany graduated in May 2006 from Marshall University in Huntington, WV, with a degree in Accounting and will be attending graduate school in in Training & Development. She was a Marshall University Student Ambassador and led students (mostly high school aged) around campus while telling them the great things about Marshall University. At Christ Temple Church, Tiffany is part of a dance ministry called Rinnah, which is a group of girls with a love for God and a desire to show that through dance. Tiffany is a very organized person and thinks she over-analyzes everything. She believes that God is calling her to a position where these traits will be best utilized by way of planning, directing, leading, and handling the logistics of it all! She participated in a CSM mission trip to Toronto in the summer of 2004. She has a passion for people and wants to devote this summer to God’s people by spending time with them and introducing God to them. "It will be a challenge to focus on others solely and to put my agenda aside, but I want to be challenged." Tiffany will join the CSM team in Houston for the month of June and will be heading to our nation’s capital in July to join the CSM team in Washington DC.
Kristin Flaugh
Kristin is from Meadville, PA and is a senior at Anderson University, majoring in Social Work. She has previously served on mission trips to Mexico, Nicaragua, Atlanta, Jamaica, and CSM trips to Washington D.C. and Toronto. Kristin has interned in the Children and Youth Ministries at First Church of God in Pennsylvania. She is currently leading a group that is creating a middle school after school program, is volunteering at a neighborhood youth bible study in Anderson, IN, and is the Director for After School Fun in Anderson. Kristin loves the outdoors, creating videos, scrapbooking, and traveling. "My goal this summer is to build relationships with CSM students, staff, and people in the city while experiencing life-changing lessons with the students as they serve in the city."
Ryan Kreider
Ryan was born and raised in Columbia City, Indiana. He is a graduate of Anderson University, with a degree in Biology. Ryan is a youth counselor at his home church and is involved in Dativus, a men's social/service club that ministers to the community and campus. He has a passion for working with teens and kids. Ryan enjoys being outdoors, playing sports, skiing, playing rugby and of course hanging out with friends and family. He worked with CSM in Houston the summer of 2005 and loved the experience. "This summer I hope to continue to learn about myself and what it means to truly love and serve others."
Britani Wade
Britani grew up in Haviland, KS. She is attending Friends University in Wichita double majoring in Psychology and Religion. She has been on mission trips to Mexico with Mid-America Yearly Meeting and to Houston with CSM. In high school Britani helped lead Junior and Senior High Sunday School classes as well as the youth group. Since attending college, she has been involved in Campus Ministries where "Invite, Encourage and Serve" is the goal. Britani's hobbies are trampoline jumping and swimming, but her heart is completely for the Lord and His will. "I love learning more about the Lord, spending time with Him and seeking His face. I have a heart to serve and encourage people, especially youth."
Vincent Wong
Vincent was born, raised, and lives in Sacramento, CA. He attends California Sate University, Sacramento, majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Spanish. He has been on five missions trips to Mexico between the years of 1998 to 2003 and to Ecuador in 2004. On both the Mexico and Ecuador missions trips his team was able to encourage the local church of believers, share the gospel with the community, and host a vacation bible school for the kids in the surrounding community. In the summers of 2003 and 2005 Vincent went on CSM missions trips to Los Angeles where he served in the inner city, loving people, encouraging fellow believers, praying, and when the opportunity arose, sharing Christ with those who didn’t know him. At his local church, Vincent was a counselor at the junior high summer camps in 2004 and 2005. He led a small group for high school guys 2003-2004 school year and is currently an active member of the college fellowship. He really likes to play sports, especially basketball. Basically, any game that involves a ball is pure fun (unless it’s a golf ball). His new favorite sport is outdoor rock climbing, which he tried for the first time in April! His goal with students is to help them experience God in totally new ways and to know His heart better by serving and loving others in the inner-city. His goal with CSM staff and leaders is to work alongside like-minded Christians, to find out more of God’s good plans, and to find role-models in Christians who live rich lives because they really do live by faith and not by sight. "I am spending the summer in Houston with CSM because in serving the urban poor in Jesus’ name I am serving Christ."
