Rachel Hamilton
- Los Angeles city director
Rachel Hamilton's journey in urban ministry began in 1994 in a low-income
neighborhood in Pasadena, CA. She was first hit by God's love for the city
when she made friends with a girl while teaching her how to draw. She was one
of three daughters of a single mother and her heart broke for this girl. After
that experience, wherever she worked she kept bringing people back to the city
to see God's work.
In the fall of 2002, Rachel left a ministry position with InterVarsity
Christian Fellowship at the Claremont Colleges in Claremont, CA. She wanted to
work with non-profits and urban ministry in Los Angeles. She gained some great
experience working at a non-profit youth writing project in Los Angeles and
also met and married Jeff Hamilton. Even while settling into her new life she
knew there was something else out there for her, but had no idea something like
CSM even existed.
After following a visiting group around L.A. on a trip right after New
Years, 2004, Rachel was hooked and accepted the opportunity to serve as the City
Director for CSM-LA.

Jonathan Liu - Los Angeles associate city scheduler
Jonathan grew up in La Canada, CA, which is a small
suburb near Los Angeles. He has served on short-term mission trips since
Junior High and is very glad to be a full-time member of the CSM Los Angeles
staff this Fall, 2007. He has served in Mexico, England, Canada, China and
(of course) with CSM in Los Angeles. Jonathan has had a blast working with
Junior High and High School groups at his church for the last 10 years. He
is a self-confessed techno-geek and loves just about anything to do with
computers. Jonathan will be working with the scheduling aspect of CSM mission trips.

Jon Vales - Los Angeles
associate city director
Jon is from Berwyn, IL (right outside Chicago) and graduated from Judson College in
Elgin, IL, with a major in Youth Ministry. Some of his missions experience includes
trips to South Dakota, Romania, and New Orleans. During his last two years in school,
he worked with CSM in Chicago and Los Angeles. It was such an amazing experience
that he decided to work with CSM fulltime. His hobbies include playing tennis,
baseball, basketball and most any other sport. When not watching the Cubs or playing
sports, he enjoys going out for a good cup coffee and sitting down with a good book.
"I hope to inform others about many of the real problems that people struggle
with in the city, but also to show them where God is working in the city too. I also
hope to show the Christ's love to everyone I meet."
