| Toronto Summer Staff Team 2005 |
(Left to Right): Michelle Drew, William Gray,
City Director Jenn Reimer, Associate City Director Tara McPherson,
Alex Tang, Elisa Awtrey, Marci Prescott, Angela Inniger |
William Gray - William was
born and raised in Amelia County, Virginia, which is just south of the state
capitol, Richmond. After attending John Tyler Community College, he transferred
to Eastern Mennonite University (E.M.U.), which is located amid the Blue
Ridge Mountains in Harrisonburg, Virginia. He will be graduating in December
with a degree in Culture, Religion, and Mission. He has ministered on short-term
trips to Nicaragua and West Virginia. His youth ministry experience includes
assisting at his home church and as a counselor during the summers of 2003
and 2004 at a Christian youth camp, Spruce Lake, in the Pocono Mountains
of Pennsylvania. He also has coached youth soccer over the years. He really
likes soccer as well tennis and table tennis. Socializing and enjoying food
are activities he enjoys also. "I look forward to spending the summer
outside of the United States serving with CSM in Toronto. Because I have
very little experience in big cities, I am excited to learn about God's
love and desires for the people of Toronto." |
Angela Inniger - Angela just
graduated from Ohio Northern University with a Biology/Pre-Physician Assistant
degree. Her missions experience includes work with Habitat for Humanity
in 3 different states, time in Haiti and last summer was a CSM city host
in Philadelphia. She has been involved in her campus Christian fellowship,
discipleship and was a Bible study leader. Her hobbies include racquetball,
running, reading, hanging out with friends, baking and road trips. She is
looking forward to learning about Toronto. "I'm just wanting to be
real with the people I meet on the streets and at the ministry sites - really
get to know their hearts and what makes them tick. I want to get the groups
that come super pumped about being and seeing Jesus in the city. I also
want to be an encouragement to my fellow staff." |
Marci Prescott - Marci is
from Aurora, Ontario. She is a graduate of Wilfrid Laurier University (Waterloo,
Ontario) with an Honors degree in English, and minors in Religion and Culture
as well as Political Science. Her missions experience includes a trip to
St. Vincent (in the Caribbean) with the Peoples Christian Academy. Currently
she serves on the Youth Executive (board) at Grace Tabernacle Church and
leads a worship dance group called "The Blessed Ones". She loves
reading African-Canadian literature, sunny, balmy summer days, Chocolate
Eruption Cake, Virgin Pina Coladas, West Indian food, and shopping. "My
ultimate goal is for students, the homeless, friends
everyone, to
experience Christ's transforming love through me." |
Michelle Drew - Michelle
was born and raised in southern Ontario. She just finished her first year
at Providence College in Manitoba, where she is studying Communications
and Media. Her missions experience began at the age of nine, when she traveled
around Florida visiting nursing homes and day care centers. When she was
13, she spent the summer in Indiana doing clown evangelism and the following
year, went to Ethiopia to help build a church. She's also been to New Orleans,
as well as China for a summer. Michelle likes photography, art, sewing and
music. "I'm excited to discover more about Toronto and poverty in my
own country. It is great to find such a practical way to show love and meet
the needs of people here." |
Alex Tang - Alex is from
Markham, Ontario and is in his second year at Brock University in St. Catharines,
Ontario. He is majoring in Concurrent Education (Physical Education). He
has worked with the youth at his church, was a leader of his church softball
team and has prepared and led Bible studies there. Alex is involved in the
musical worship ministry and last summer, founded a homeless outreach program.
Alex likes playing the guitar and playing lots of different sports. "I
hope that my experience at CSM this summer will allow me to become bolder
in my walk with God and in how I represent God in my mission field. I feel
that I am serving in Toronto because my heart is for those who are suffering
in my own city (or close enough anyways).". |
Elisabeth (Elisa) Awtrey - Elisa
was born in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, but moved to southwestern Michigan
(Grand Rapids area) to be closer to relatives, and this has been her home
base ever since. She attended a missionary high school in Bucharest, Romania
and is a recent graduate from Cornerstone University (Grand Rapids, MI)
with a degree in English Secondary Education and Teaching English as a Second
Language. Christ has given her a passion for youth and service and she enjoys
mentoring and teaching students in church groups and schools. Elisa loves
to travel, meet new people, chat at coffeehouses, laugh, read, photograph,
enjoy the great outdoors, and to be stretched outside her comfort zone!
"This summer in Toronto is a great way to grow and see the Lord moving
and using His people to illustrate the awesome message of His love." |
